The jump from $30 to $100 is 3.3 times the price for the same model. That is the number to sit with. You are buying headroom and video resolution, not capability.

1080p video creation. The clearest single differentiator, and the one most likely to justify the tier on its own if video is your work.

What it does not get you: a different model. Grok 4.6 runs on the $30 tier too. If you are upgrading expecting better answers, you will not get them.

The second row is the one worth taking seriously. Three subscriptions across three vendors gives you three separate pools rather than one larger shared one — and since the shared pool is the thing that causes limit problems, splitting the work across providers solves the actual complaint rather than postponing it.
It only fails if live X data is genuinely central to what you do, in which case no amount of ChatGPT or Claude substitutes for it.
Should You Wait for Grok 4.7?
Musk indicated an early-to-mid September window. As of today there is still no model ID at docs.x.ai, no published price and no benchmark card.
Worth knowing that model upgrades have historically reached all paid tiers rather than the top one only — Grok 4.6 runs on the $10 Lite tier. So waiting for 4.7 is not an argument for or against Plus specifically. If you need the headroom now, the model version is not the variable.
Who Should Buy It
Buy it if
You hit weekly limits on SuperGrok most weeks. You generate video and need 1080p. You have been queued during peak load often enough to notice. Live X data is central to your work and you cannot split it across providers.

Try first
Spend a week deliberately not using Imagine or Voice and see whether the chat limits still bite. If they stop being a problem, you have a distribution issue rather than a capacity one, and $70 a month does not fix that.
