About Gesture Synth (gesture-synth.com)
Gesture Synth at gesture-synth.com is a browser instrument that turns hand movement into music. It tracks two hands through a webcam and uses a pinch gesture to play notes, and it is the only version in this category with a Mouse Mode that plays without a camera at all, using the same scales, waveforms and synthesis engine as the camera experience.
It offers four modes: Melody, Easy Jam with four chords, Beat Jam as a guided four-bar performance, and Sing and Play which can use a microphone. Scales cover pentatonic, major and minor with an adjustable root, and voices cover sine, triangle, sawtooth and square.
Playing and recording are free without signing in, and takes can run 15 or 120 seconds. Beat Jam MIDI note export is free. Keeping a video export costs US$9.99 per recording and requires signing in with Google or email. There is no subscription.
