ChatGPT Can Now Build the Deck, Not Just the Outline

ChatGPT Slides adds real-time co-editing and exports to PowerPoint, PDF, Google Slides and Keynote, moving OpenAI from drafting content for a deck to producing the file — and putting it directly against the AI presentation tools that built businesses on that gap.

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Slides, a presentation builder inside ChatGPT with real-time co-editing and export to PowerPoint, PDF, Google Slides and Keynote.

The export list is the announcement

A whole category of AI presentation tools exists because of one gap: ChatGPT could write excellent slide content and then hand you text you had to paste into PowerPoint yourself. Tools that closed that gap — generating the actual file, with layouts that survive opening in Keynote — had a real product.

Four export formats closes it. That does not end those products, which generally offer stronger templates, brand kits and design control than a chat interface will. But it removes the reason a casual user went looking for one.

Who should care

If you make a deck occasionally and mostly need the content right, this probably replaces whatever you were using. If you make decks for a living, or need brand consistency across a team, the dedicated tools still do things a chat window does not.

OpenAI has not published detail on template range, image handling or whether generated decks preserve editable elements when opened in PowerPoint, and that last one decides how useful this is in practice. A deck that exports as flat images is a PDF with extra steps.
