● Total compute contracts: about $630 billion across seven
● Non-cancellable portion: about $441 billion
● Annual sales needed to cover it: at least $60 billion
● H1 2026 revenue: $17 billion, from $1.3 billion a year earlier
● Enterprises over $100k a year: 11,000, up from 1,500
The headline from Anthropic's filing has been the $80 billion GAAP loss, which is mostly a non-cash revaluation of convertible notes. The number that actually constrains the business sits further down: approximately $630 billion of compute commitments across seven infrastructure contracts, of which about $441 billion is guaranteed - which is to say non-cancellable.
Fortune's reading of the prospectus puts the annual obligation at at least $60 billion a year that has to be covered by sales. First-half 2026 revenue was $17 billion, up from $1.3 billion a year earlier, with Q2 at $11.6 billion. Adjusted operating income for the half was $1.6 billion, a margin above 9%.
Those two figures are the whole investment case. Revenue growing roughly thirteen-fold year on year against a fixed, non-cancellable cost base is either the fastest route to scale anyone has built or a commitment that outruns the demand behind it. The enterprise count argues for the former: 11,000 customers spending over $100,000 a year, up from 1,500.
