The argument Apple is actually making
Apple has no frontier model. That has not changed, and nine days into the job Ternus was never going to change it at a hardware event.
What he did instead was reframe the question. If the model is a commodity you can access from anywhere, the thing that matters is what runs it well — silicon designed in-house, on-device inference, privacy that competitors cannot match without changing their business models.
