invideo Remote Agents Lets Claude or Cursor Edit a Real Timeline

Remote Agents connects Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to invideo's editor over MCP, so the agent edits a multitrack timeline you can take over at any frame. Connecting and editing cost no credits on any plan; only generation is metered, and Seedance 2.5 needs Pro at $30 a month.

Quick answer

What it is: an MCP server that hands an external AI agent invideo’s real multitrack timeline, not a text-to-video box
Works with: Claude on web and desktop, ChatGPT via its apps directory, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Hermes Agent, OpenClaw
Setup: about a minute. One click for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor; a paste-in prompt for the CLIs. No API key
Editing cost: zero credits, on every plan including Basic. invideo’s own calculator puts 40 hours of timeline editing at no credit cost
Generation cost: metered in credits. No free plan - Basic starts at $9 a month for 190 credits
The catch: Basic cannot generate Seedance 2.5 at all and caps you at Agent Two Lite. Video generation realistically starts at Pro, $30 a month

Most AI video tools answer a prompt with one finished clip. If the cut is wrong you prompt again and hope. Remote Agents takes a different line: the agent works inside invideo’s editor and leaves behind an editable timeline, so a bad decision is a thing you drag rather than a thing you re-roll. Full specification and current pricing are on the invideo directory listing.

What it actually is

Remote Agents is an MCP server at mcp.invideo.io/mcp over Streamable HTTP. Your assistant connects to it and gets the editor: professional NLE timeline editing, colour correction, audio mixing, and generation of images, video and audio. The agent opens a project and every cut, title and transition appears live under a cursor labelled with the agent’s name - invideo calls this “watch every edit land”. You are not locked out while it works; “take over at any frame” means you can hand-edit the same timeline alongside it.

Six starter prompts ship with it: Rough cut, Color, Captions, Audio, Generate and Deliver. Undo works on any individual edit, and there are checkpoints to roll back to. Exports are either a rendered video or an editable project for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve - which is the detail that matters if invideo is one step in a pipeline rather than the whole of it.

Setup

For Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor it is a one-click add. For Claude Code, Codex and other CLIs you paste a prompt that has the agent install the invideo CLI and sign you in. Then you sign in with your invideo account. There is no API key to generate, rotate or leak, which is a real convenience and also means your invideo plan - not a key - is the thing that gates what the agent can do. invideo puts the whole process at about a minute, and that matched our read of the flow.

Two hard requirements: an invideo account, and a client that supports remote MCP servers. If your assistant does not do remote MCP, nothing here applies.

The part that is not free

invideo’s own MCP announcement on 30 September 2026 puts it accurately: the manual editor is free, while “AI generation uses invideo credits, and your chosen assistant’s plan requirements still apply”. That is three cost layers, and it is worth separating them because only one has a floor.

Connecting Remote Agents costs nothing. Editing costs nothing - the full timeline, multiplayer editing, colour, audio and 3D are on every plan including Basic, and invideo’s plan calculator assigns no credit cost to 40 hours of timeline editing. That is unusually favourable for agent work, where an agent may make hundreds of cuts and three generations.

Generation is metered, and there is no free plan. The cheapest entry is Basic at $9 per seat a month, or $4 per seat billed annually under the 50% discount running at the time of writing. Credits do not roll over.

PlanMonthlyAnnual, per seatCredits / seat / moAgent accessSeedance 2.5
Basic$9$4190Agent Two Lite onlyNo access
Pro$30$151,000Lite, Pro, Ultra1080p, full access
Ultra$80$403,000Lite, Pro, Ultra1080p, full access
The number that decides the plan: Basic shows a cross against every Seedance 2.5 row. It gets Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini only, and Agent Two Lite. So if the reason you are wiring Claude Code into invideo is to have it generate current-generation video, Basic is not a cheap option - it is not an option. Pro at $30 a month is the real entry point, and 1,000 credits buys about 10 five-second clips at Seedance 2.5 1080p. Ultra’s 3,000 credits buys about 31.

What a credit buys

ModelCredit costBasic, 190Pro, 1,000Ultra, 3,000
Seedance 2.5, 1080p~96 / 5s—10 clips31 clips
Seedance 2.5, 720p~56 / 5s—17 clips53 clips
Seedance 2.5 Draft~24.5 / 5s—40 clips122 clips
Nano Banana Pro~2.5 / image764001,200
Nano Banana Pro 4K~4 / image47250750
GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst~0.4 / image4752,5007,500

Two practical notes. Drafting in Seedance 2.5 Draft at ~24.5 credits per five seconds and only finishing the keepers at 1080p turns 10 clips a month into 40 attempts - which is the right way to run an agent that iterates. And GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst at ~0.4 credits an image is cheap enough that storyboarding with it is effectively unmetered even on Basic.

The third cost layer is your assistant. Remote Agents does not include a Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor subscription, and invideo says plainly that your chosen assistant’s plan requirements still apply.

Honest limitations

Credits do not roll over, so a quiet month is money gone - and invideo reserves the right to change credit costs without notice, which means the arithmetic above is a snapshot rather than a contract. Seats matter too: credits are per seat, Basic allows up to five seats and no guest seats, while Pro adds 10 guest seats at 190 credits each and Ultra adds 20.

The bigger structural caveat is the one in the setup section. Because there is no API key and the gate is your plan, there is no way to give an agent a small metered budget independent of your account. An agent that loops on a generation step spends your seat’s credits for the month, and checkpoints let you undo the timeline, not the spend.

Who it is for

If you already live in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want video work to happen in the same place as everything else, this is the most direct route we have seen - an editable timeline and a Premiere, Final Cut or Resolve export is a genuinely different deliverable from a rendered MP4. Budget Pro at $30 a month, draft in Seedance 2.5 Draft, and treat the editing half as free, because it is.

If you want one finished clip from one prompt and have no intention of touching a timeline, the agent layer is overhead you will not use. And if you were drawn here by the word free: connecting and editing are free, generating is not, and there is no free plan to generate from.

FAQ

Is invideo Remote Agents free?

Connecting is free and needs no API key, and timeline editing consumes no credits on any plan. Generation consumes credits, and invideo’s pricing page lists no free plan - the cheapest is Basic at $9 per seat a month, $4 billed annually under the current discount. Your AI assistant’s own subscription is separate.

Which AI assistants work with it?

Claude on web and desktop, ChatGPT through its apps directory, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, and any other client that supports remote MCP servers.

Do I need an API key?

No. You sign in with your invideo account. That is convenient, and it also means your plan rather than a key controls what the agent can generate and spend.

Which plan do I need for Seedance 2.5?

Pro or Ultra. Basic has no access to Seedance 2.5 and is limited to Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini with Agent Two Lite.

Can I keep editing while the agent works?

Yes. Edits appear under a cursor labelled with the agent’s name and you can hand-edit the same timeline at any frame. Undo works per edit, and checkpoints restore an earlier state.

Can I take the result into Premiere or Resolve?

Yes. Export either a rendered video or an editable project for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
