1
Separate stated from verified
Know which numbers you can rely on
Read this funding announcement. Produce two lists. First: every figure that is independently verifiable, such as filed documents or regulator records. Second: every figure that is company-stated or unaudited. For the second list, say who would have to confirm each number for it to be trusted.
2
Decode the hedging
See what has and has not been agreed
Find every hedged or soft phrase in this announcement, such as nearing, up to, reported, could reach, or approaching. Quote each one and tell me what the firm commitment behind it actually is, if any.
3
Work out the multiple
Sanity-check a valuation in thirty seconds
Using only figures in this announcement, calculate the revenue multiple implied by the valuation. If revenue is not given, say so and tell me what would need to be true for the valuation to be reasonable at a normal multiple for this sector.
4
Read the investor list
Understand the motive behind the money
List every named investor in this round and classify each one: venture fund, sovereign fund, strategic or corporate investor, or angel. Then tell me what the mix suggests about what this company needs beyond money.
5
Name what is missing
Spot the omission that matters
List the facts a serious evaluator would want that this announcement does not provide. For each, say why its absence might be deliberate.
